The
purpose of this small group is threefold:
1) To deepen our union with Jesus
through prayer and adoration, under the guidance
and intercession of Our Blessed Mother. In the
words of Pope John Paul, to be a small
“school of prayer.”
2) To support and pray for each other
in the daily struggle to remain faithful to
Jesus wherever we are and in whatever we do.
3) To pray for others, for the
whole world, that each soul may be united to
Jesus and so that He may pour out His Mercy on
all mankind.
This
is a group for young women of high school and
college age.
This is not meant to be a ‘fun’ group or a
social group. It is a serious group
because the challenges and attacks that young
women today face are serious. It is a group in
which to learn how to be docile to Jesus in
prayer, so that He Himself, with Our Blessed
Mother, will teach each one what it means to be
His in today’s world; what it means today to be
a young Christian woman.
God has put in the hearts of young women
a desire to care for and help others. But our
world and our society face so many serious
problems today that it can be overwhelming and
seem almost hopeless. What can we do to help so
many people out there that are suffering?
Humanly, we can do very little. We can help
those immediately around us, but there still
remain multitudes in need of help and hope.
That is why we turn to prayer.
In prayer we can do what we are unable to do
physically or humanly…because it is God Himself
that does it, God Himself who acts. In
prayer we can reach every soul, every
situation, every problem, and bring Jesus to
them. The power of prayer is beyond
comprehension. That is why we want a prayer
group.
God has given women a special grace
of openness and docility to His work; a
special grace of concern for others, of
tenderness, of compassion, of empathy; a special
strength to love and to suffer. But only He can
reveal these graces to each one of us and show
us how to use them; how to cooperate with Him.
We place this little group at Our Lady’s
disposal and under the patronage of St.
Philomena, so that They may guide, teach,
help, and form each one of us for Jesus, for
whatever mission and vocation He has prepared
for us.

“For
this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
from Whom every family in Heaven and on earth is
named, that according to the riches of His glory
He may grant you to be strengthened with
might through His Spirit in the inner man,
and that Christ may dwell in your hearts
through faith; that you, being
rooted and grounded in love, may have power
to comprehend with all the saints what is the
breadth and length and height and depth, and
to know the love of Christ which surpasses
knowledge, that you may be filled with all the
fullness of God.
Now to
Him who by the power at work within us is able
to do far more abundantly than all that we ask
or think, to Him be glory in the Church
and in Christ Jesus to all generations for ever
and ever. Amen.”
